12 Food items you must try in India!!!!!
Food is something for which everyone is crazy about. India is mixed bag full of different culture and cuisine. There are thousands of dishes and the varieties never get over. When I was writing this blog I was so confused about what to add in the list. So, here we are with the list. Let's begin with something sweet.
1. Rasgulla/Rasagola/Roshogolla
It is a white , fluffy, spongy ball shaped dumpling cooked in light syrup of sugar. Main ingredients of this dish is sugar, chhena and semolina. It is available in most parts of India but the dish is authentic in West Bengal, Odisha and eastern parts of India.
Fun Fact: In Kolkata, a city based entrepreneur, Swati has a business with variety of 200 different types of Rasgulla like strawberry, black currant, raspberry, gundi paan shots and many more.
2. Pav Bhaji
It is a dish consisting of thick vegetable curry served with soft bread roll. Pav means bread and bhaji means vegetable. The main vegetables are potatoes, tomatoes, onions, peas, chilies and lots of distinct spices. It is served with lots of butter and cheese along with onions and lemons. It is a famous dish of Maharashtra state. The dish has become so famous that it is synonym with the city of Mumbai.
Fun Fact: Portuguese got us the most important ingredient needed to make Pav Bhaji, namely the pav.

3. Rajma Chawal
Rajma Chawal (Kidney beans and rice) is a delicious and flavourful curry made with red kidney beans which is Rajma served with jeera rice (Cumin seed mixed with rice). It is the favorite combo in many north Indian households.
Fun Fact: Kidney beans are special types of common beans which have come from Peru to India. In Indian market 3 types of beans are available-Kashmiri kidney beans, red kidney beans and chitra kidney beans
As you can see from the lots of names that this dish is quite famous in India. It is round and hollow puri (which is deep fried) filled with mixture of flavoured water, potato mash, onions. It tastes sour, sweet or spicy according to flavored water. It has different names in different states.
Fun Fact: Pani Puri can actually cure your mouth ulcers.
Biryani is a mixed rice dish originating among the muslim of Indian subcontinent. It is made with Indian spices, rice and meat and sometimes with eggs/paneer/chicken. There are many varieties of biryani like Hyderabadi biryani, Chicken biryani, Paneer biryani etc.
Fun Fact: It was the most googled dish of 2020
6.Gulab Jamun
It is a dessert. It is a milk-solid based sweet from the Indian subcontinent. The main ingredients are khoa( solid milk), saffron. It is served on every indian occasion.
Fun Fact: Gulab Jamun ki Sabji is a variant from Rajasthan where these balls are not soaked in sugar syrup but are cooked in nuts and tomato gravy.
7. Chole Bhature
Chole Bhature is a dish originating from North India. In Delhi, Chole Bhature are very famous. It is combination of Chana masala and bhature/puri, a fried bread made from maida. Main ingredients are Maida, garlic, tomatoes, chickpeas.
Fun Fact: 2nd October is celebrated as Chole Bhature Day.
8. Lassi
Lassi is a popular traditional dahi(curd) based drink or regional name for buttermilk in Punjab, Kashmir, Sindh, Haryana etc. It is blend of yogurt water spices and sometimes fruits. It can be sweet or spicy.
Fun Fact: It boosts our immune system.
9. Dosa
It is a Indian crepe. It is originating from South India made from a fermented batter predominantly consisting of lentils and rice. There are many variations like Masala dosa, Rawa dosa etc.
Fun Fact:The longest dosa measures 16.68 m (54 ft 8.69 in) and was achieved by Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM and Naturralle Refined Sunflower Oil, prepared by Hotel Daspalla (all India), at the Forum Sujana Mall, in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, on 16 November 2014.
The dish native to the state of Maharashtra. The dish consist of deep fried potatoes dumpling placed inside a bread bun sliced almost in half through the middle. It is generally accompanied with green chutney and chilies
Fun Fact: The dish is believed to have been invented in 1996 by mumbaikar Ashok Vaidya who opened the first vada pav stall opposite the dadar station
11. Chai
Masala chai is a tea beverage made by boiling black tea in milk and water with a mixture of aromatic herbs and spices. Originating in South Asia, the beverage has gained worldwide popularity, becoming a feature in many coffee and tea houses. In India there are many varieties of tea like tandoori chai, vanilla chai etc.
